The search for diverse renewable energy, especially carbon free electricity, is continuous. In 2007 one such initiative was launched in Portland, Oregon where a local company started to test electricity generating turbines in gravity-fed water pipes using the city’s potable water pipe system to produce electricity. The turbines used by Lucid Energy can generate an average of 1,100 megawatt-hours of electricity every year within a 50 feet long network. This amount is enough to power about 150 homes.
